The 2017 Annual Meeting will be held at the TradeWinds Island Resorts in St. Pete Beach, Florida, May 19 – 24, 2017.

No, you must wear a badge to get into all meeting events. Return to the registration table and the staff will help you.
If you require a letter of invite, please submit your request for an invitation letter by emailing us at or by fax at (415) 593-7606 prior to April 15, 2017. Please include the complete name and address. Letters will be emailed as an attachment unless you specify otherwise. Letters will be sent out once your abstract is accepted. The meeting registration includes a Friday night reception (heavy hors d’oeuvres), continental breakfast and mid-morning coffee break each morning, an afternoon coffee break with a light snack (popcorn, granola bar, etc.), and a Monday night Demo Night Dinner.
Yes, VSS provides free wired and wireless Internet access in the VSS Lounge located in the Blue Heron meeting room located upstairs from the talk rooms. A limited number of laptop computers will also be available for those who did not bring their own computers.Free wireless Internet access is provided in the meeting space, lobby and restaurant areas of the hotel.
The deadline for submitting your abstract is December 1, 2017, latest time zone on earth.
Yes, you must be a current member in good standing. Please see Membership. You may become a member at the same time that you submit your abstract. If you try to submit and you are not a member, you will be directed to the membership application.

Each individual may submit one abstract and may be the first author on only one abstract.
There is no longer a separate charge for submitting an abstract; the abstract submission is now rolled into the membership fee. This portion of the membership fee ($40) covers the administrative costs involved in receiving and reviewing the abstracts and the online abstract submission system. It also helps to cover the publishing of the abstracts in the Journal of Vision. Membership fees are not refundable.
Online registration opens on December 8, 2016 and is available through April 26, 2017. Early (discounted) registration runs through March 1, 2017. If you do not register online, registration is available onsite beginning Thursday, May 19, 2017.
VSS does not offer a one-day registration rate.
If you cannot attend VSS, you will need to withdraw your abstract. Under certain conditions, you may make special arrangements to have another author present your poster; however, first author must still pay the registration fee in order for the poster to be presented. Substitution authors for talks are not allowed. Please send all special requests to the .
Yes. All participants (including talk and symposium presenters) are required to register for the meeting.
Yes. The symposia are part of the VSS meeting and therefore meeting registration is required to attend (and participate in) the symposia.
Hotel & Travel
We provide rooms at a discounted rate at the meeting hotel. When these rooms sell out, we will provide at least one overflow hotel with discounted room rates. See the Accommodations page for more information.
