Online Registration Deadline: May 10, 2019

Onsite childcare will allow you to enjoy the scientific program and spend time with colleagues, while the little ones create their own fun memories in a safe and stimulating environment. VSS has contracted with the highly recommended ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements, Inc. ACCENT has a reputation for experience and professionalism. We reached out to some of ACCENT’s long-term clients and received glowing reviews from a number of associations, including the American College of Physicians, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Association of Geographers, and the American Political Science Association.

CAMP VSS will offer age-appropriate activities for children ranging from 6 months to 12 years of age (separated into age-appropriate groups). Activities will include curriculum-enriched, hands-on, creative activities, arts & crafts projects, active games, and more. Each age group has a schedule of daily activities planned. Younger children enjoy toys, songs, and lots of attention. Older children play age-appropriate games and make arts and crafts throughout the day. ACCENT will staff CAMP VSS with teachers and professional child care providers who have completed ACCENT’s specialized training program. In addition, ACCENT’s onsite supervisors are CPR and Pediatric First Aid certified.

CAMP VSS will be available during all six days of the meeting for half-day and full-day sessions. Don’t worry about feeding the kids–each session includes snacks and a child-friendly meal. In addition, all children enrolled in Camp VSS will receive a Friends & Family pass, good for the duration of the meeting. For families with multiple children, there is a 10% discount for each additional sibling enrolled.

Activity Centers for the Big Kids

The activity center will be divided into various children-friendly, stimulating and developmentally-appropriate zones.
Examples of the different zones:

Build It Zone: In this area, young builders can construct to their hearts content using connectors, building blocks, Lincoln Logs, Legos, and Duplos. From skyscrapers, to farms, to everything in between, this is the area where future architects and contractors can come alive!

Make It Zone: There are no limits to creativity in the Make It Zone. Your artists can show off their talents and let their imaginations soar using foam shapes, pom-poms, glitter, glue, paint, sticks, beads, tissue paper, and pipe cleaners. There is sure to be plenty in this area to stimulate a young Picasso!

Book It Zone: We all need a break sometimes, so the Book It Zone provides an escape from all of the hustle bustle. In this area, kids can read a book, make a puzzle, watch a movie, or take a nap.

Boogie It Zone: Let the true star in you shine by singing and dancing along to the karaoke machine. Dress up in fun costumes and pretend to be a fireman, policeman, doctor, or scientist! Kids can also escape to the imaginary lands of Snow White or Bob the Builder.

Get It Going Zone: In this area, we’ll get our hearts pumping by jumping rope, stretching, playing with a parachute, getting lost in a maze of tunnels, playing in the ball pit, and making a pop-up tent.

Play It Zone: From Play Station, to the Wii, to board games, hot wheels, and Barbies, this is a gamer’s paradise. Explore new games, learn new tricks and strategies, and challenge others.

Adult-to-Child Ratios

ACCENT’s staffing ratios and operating procedures meet or exceed standards established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Staff ratios for each age group are:

Infants 6 months to 12 months 1:2
Toddlers 13 months to 35 months 1:3
Pre-School 3 years to 5 years 1:5
School-Age 6 years to 12 years 1:8
