PURSUE workshop: How to train students in electrophysiology using open educational materials

Monday, May 18, 2026, 2:00 – 6:00 pm, Horizons West

Organizer: Cindy Bukach, University of Richmond

Speakers: Cindy Bukach, Catherine Reed, and a panel of 3 prior PURSUE participants: (Joseph Hopfinger, Erika Nyhus, Ryan Mruczek).

The purpose of this event is to facilitate training of students in electrophysiology. The event will introduce researchers to PURSUE’s open educational resources for training undergraduates in electrophysiology (ERP database, class and lab materials, videos, animations, instructor support materials) and provide a guide for navigating this extensive resource along with course design principles specific to teaching a hands-on course in electrophysiology. PURSUE materials were developed through an NSF grant and tested by faculty across multiple institutions. A panel of 3 prior faculty participants will present how they modified these materials and used technology to design unique courses. Time will be allotted to break-out groups where participants can begin designing their courses in a collaborative fashion based on their unique student needs and teaching contexts. Interested participants can join us for dinner to continue chatting about their course design. To register for this free workshop, please complete the registration form on our website. If you have any questions, contact Cindy Bukach at or Chandlyr Denaro .
