Nominations are now being accepted for the Elsevier/VSS Young Investigator Award.

VSS is pleased to announce the seventh annual Elsevier/VSS Young Investigator Award, sponsored by Vision Research. The award is given each year to an outstanding visual scientist who received an advanced degree within the past 10 years.

Nominations must be made by a VSS member, and will be reviewed by an Award Committee of five established visual scientists selected from VSS membership. Members of the Award Committee and of the VSS Board of Directors cannot serve as nominators.

The Award Committee will select the winner by March 27, 2015. The prize will be presented at the 2015 VSS meeting in St. Pete Beach, and will include an honorarium. The awardee will be asked to give a presentation of her/his work at the 2015 VSS meeting, and to write a review to be published in Vision Research.

The nominations should include a letter including a detailed description of the nominee's scientific contributions, and a  complete curriculum vitae. Previously considered nominees may be re-nominated, but a new nomination is required each year.

To be eligible, the nominee's most advanced degree must have been awarded no earlier than the calendar year 10 years prior to receiving the award. For the upcoming 2015 award, the degree must have been awarded in or after 2005. Recipients must be active VSS members and have attended two of the last five VSS meetings.

Nominations for the 2015 Young Investigator Award should be submitted by email to Shauney Wilson (vss@visionsciences.org).

Deadline to submit nominations is February 12, 2015.
